Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Tumble. Her father is a Malinois and her mother is a Mastiff Mix. The owner surrendered the entire litter and the Mom. Our Rescue took one pup and the owner found homes for all the others.
Tumble has been a real joy to foster. This little girl is sweet as can be, with not a mean bone in her body. She only recently found her voice when playing. She is very intelligent and learns quickly. She plays with the other foster dogs in the home and is not a Velcro dog. She does not always need her foster parents around her when she has another dog's company. Her legs are quite long and she enjoys coming up on the living room furniture but just can't make the jump onto the bed as of yet. She is paper-trained and goes outside. She really enjoys playing outside in the yard with the other dogs.
Tumble is fed three times a day and is currently eating Purina Pro Plan Lamb and rice as we believe she is chicken intolerant. She sleeps through the night and is not crated. Tumble plays very nicely with the other puppies and is quite gentle. She listens very well and her recall is excellent. At this point, she seems to have the brains of a Shepherd but the disposition of a mastiff. She is quite laid back but focused. She is not a high-energy pup at this stage. She loves stuffies with squeakers but has learned to play tug of war with rope toys. Tumble is gentle and will sit and give a paw on command. This gal is very affectionate without being overly jumpy. She has a beautiful, soft, hair coat. She rides well in the vehicle and is very good for the Veterinarians at our Clinic. When lifted up on the bed, she plays a bit but then sleeps through the night. She will be very easily trained as she is both food and praise motivated. She will require training to walk on a lead and body harness properly.
Tumble has had all her vaccines. She will require a booster for Lyme and Lepto on January 19th. Tumble ismicrochipped and on Nexguard for flea and tick prevention. She weighed 14.2 kg at the Vets, on Dec 28.
She will be a large breed dog when fully grown.
The ideal home for Tumble would be one with another socialized dog that she can learn from. Exposure to lots of people, continuously, is important for this breed mix. A family willing to take her to obedience classes from the get-go is very important.
Tumble is up to date with vaccines, including Bordetella, Lyme and Lepto. She is on Nexguard Spectra.
UPDATE: Jan 19, third and final set of vaccines given. Now fully vaccinated. Weight was 17.2 kg at 8 weeks.
A fully fenced yard with wooden fencing, is mandatory to apply for our Tumble.
Thank you Melissa Caron Photography for showcasing her beauty in these photos.
