Adoption Fees

Why Do Rescues Have Adoption Fees?

Along with daily care costs, the adoption fees help the Barks and Meows Adoption Rescue cover vaccination and medical prep costs for the dogs. At adoption, Barks and Meows Adoption Rescue dogs will be current on their vaccines and will have the following:

Adoption Fees:

Puppy Under 3 Months - $900
  • Has First set of vaccines including Bordetella.
  • Is Dewormed
  • Is Not Yet Altered BUT it Includes spay/neuter done only at West Lorne Animal Hospital in West Lorne at the age of 6 months. $600 is the adoption fee if done at the adopter's clinic.
  • Has Not Been Heartworm Tested
  • Is microchipped
  • Fed exclusively Royal Canin Puppy Food
  • Comes with a collar
Puppy Between 3-6 Months - $900
  • Has Had 1st & 2nd Set of Vaccines including Lyme vaccine
  • Is Dewormed
  • Is Not Yet Altered includes spay/neuter by the date stipulated on contract done only at West Lorne Animal Hospital in West Lorne.
  • Is on heartworm prevention (if in season) flea/ tick prevention
  • Is microchipped
  • Has Not Been Heartworm Tested
  • Fed exclusively Royal Canin Puppy Food
  • comes with a leash, collar, and body harness
Puppy Between 6-8 Months - $800
  • Fully Vaccinated
  • Is Dewormed
  • Is Altered
  • Is on Heartworm prevention ( in season) and flea/tick prevention
  • Has Not Been Heartworm Tested
  • Comes with a leash, collar, and body harness
  • Is microchipped

Whelping Moms - $650

  • Fully vaccinated
  • Is Dewormed
  • Spayed
  • Is on Revolution (if in season) heartworm/flea/ tick prevention
  • 4 DX tested
  • Ultrasound has been done during pregnancy
  • Fed exclusively Royal Canin Puppy Food
  • comes with a leash, collar and body harness
  • Is microchipped

 

Adult Dog Up To 8 Years - $600
  • Is Fully Vaccinated
  • Is Dewormed
  • Is Altered
  • Has Been 4DX Tested
  • Is on Heartworm  prevention (if in season), flea/tick prevention
  • Comes with a leash, collar and body harness
  • Is microchipped
Senior Dog Over 8 Years - $350
  • Is Fully Vaccinated
  • Is Dewormed
  • Is Altered
  • Has been 4DX tested
  • Is on Heartworm Prevention (if in season) and flea/tick
  • Comes with a leash, collar and body harness
  • Is microchipped
Adult Dogs who have been in foster care for a year or longer - $350
  • Is Fully Vaccinated
  • Is Dewormed
  • Is Altered
  • Has Been 4DX Tested
  • Is on Heartworm  prevention (if in season), flea/tick prevention
  • Comes with a leash, collar and body harness
  • Is microchipped
Senior Dog Over 8 Years - $350
  • Is Fully Vaccinated
  • Is Dewormed
  • Is Altered
  • Has been 4DX tested
  • Is on Heartworm Prevention (if in season) and flea/tick
  • Comes with a leash, collar and body harness
  • Is microchipped

Adoption Inclusions:

  • Rabies: 1 year or 3 year)
  • Distemper (DHLPP or DHLPP-C)
  • Bordetella
  • Lepto
  • Lyme
  • 4DX test or Heartworm Prevention
  • Altered: Females Spayed or Males Neutered (over 6 Months)
  • Heartworm/Flea Prevention
  • Dewormed
  • MicroChipped (in some cases-depending on the Shelter)
