Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Simba. He is a 3-year-old and as per his DNA results, it 1/2 Belgian Malinois and 1/4 Border Collie, 1/4 Redbone Coonhound. He weighs about 80lbs and is very tall. He has medium-length fur. He was found as a stray. Simba is a lovely boy. He was found as a puppy having the flaps of his ears chopped off, a portion of his tail, and the bridge of his nose having second-degree burns. His hearing is perfectly fine and he had no health issues. He was given the name of Simba due to the way his ears now resemble "Simba" from the Lion King! Simba was adopted out in July but brought back in December as the daughter decided to quit work and go back to school. With both parents working full time and the daughter in school sometimes until 7 at night, crated for that long was of no benefit to Simba. The family realized he needed a place to run, not being crated all day long, though he was good as gold in a crate. Simba was then adopted out to a rural property with average and the electric fencing could not keep him in. He has a prey drive so unfortunately, a rural property will not work. Simba is fed twice daily and enjoys his food. He is fed twice daily. This fellow loves to play outside. He loves water, rain, snow, playing with sticks and other dogs. He is quite low energy for an adolescent. He gets warm easily so if he gets up on the bed, he jumps off after a while. Currently, he sleeps on a doggie bed in the home. He is housebroken and paper trained. He loves attention but is not overbearing in the slightest. He needs more work on a leash but loves going out and meeting people. He does well traveling in a car, best on an empty stomach The ideal home would be one with a large yard. He loves to lay outside chewing on a stick and toys. He doesn't require an active lifestyle other than a walk each day but he would thrive going to a cottage or beach where he could swim. He is good with resident socialized dogs but doesn't like cats. We believe he should be the only dog in the home. Simba is neutered, 4DX tested negative up to date with vaccines. A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian history of compliance are mandatory to apply for Simba.
