Finley was purchased from a CKC breeder (who is now terminally ill and therefore unable to take him back), and whose parents are both champion show dogs. He is neutered, microchipped, healthy (no medications), up-to-date with vaccines, and has been lovingly cared for. He is housetrained and crate-trained. He is socialized and not afraid of anything (fireworks, thunder, coyotes); he just dislikes when we vacuum. He has completed dog training and knows the "sit", "down", "stay", "shake", "spin", "place" and "leave it" commands. He loves to play fetch and tug, and to get belly rubs. He is a social, smart, hypervigilant and protective pup who is eager to learn new skills and to please his owners!
He currently enjoys 3-4 walks a day but he needs a lot more exercise and time spent outside than we are able to provide in our busy home (both my husband and I work/commute).
He also requires a more experienced dog-owner with time and patience for continued training to work on his barking, reactivity and impulse-control, as he's still very much a puppy (these dogs can take 4 years to mature). We have resolved much of his resource guarding but he is frequently triggered by my 6 year old and despite our efforts to train both my son AND Finley this last year, it's now clear we cannot make this work.
He is a high-energy, vocal dog who loves to be outside - exploring, following scents, or sprawling in the grass - and would be well-suited for a household with a big yard! He would make an excellent protector of a large property!
