Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Darla. She is an 8 year old Dashchund mix. Darla was adopted out by our Rescue 7 years ago but was recently returned when her Papa died and her Mom is going through chemo and radiation treatment and could no longer look after her. She has a short hair coat.
Darla looks terrific for her age. She is as energetic as she was 7 years ago when she left. She is healthy and has lost a few pounds in foster care. She enjoys the company of other dogs but doesn't want to play with them. Going for walks is key for Darla. She loves to be outside and will follow her nose and investigate many times along the way. She pulls hard on her harness lead, typical of hounds, so she needs more structure to get her to walk nicely. She is very clean and housebroken. She will bark when someone is at the door and loves meeting new people. Her previous family were seniors so she is used to the quiet life. She hasn't been around children a lot and detests cats. Darla loves her family. Come bedtime, she can be found on her foster parent's bed keeping watch. She is not a kissy dog but she is loyal and loving. Darla is fed twice daily with her food measured out as it is important to keep her weight down. She weighs 41lbs currently and is fed Royal Canin Small Breed Adult Food She is not a fussy eater and will eat any type of food.
Her ideal home would be with a senior family or someone who works from home. She would love older children where they are not chasing her and bothering her. A family member to take her on long walks each day would make her the happiest doggie in the world .
Darla is spayed, up to date with vaccines, 4dx tested negative and has been dewormed.
A fully fenced yard is mandatory to apply for our Darla.
Thanks so much to Stephen Taylor Photography for providing us her beauty shots.
