Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Belle. She is a Shepherd mix, full-grown, weighing 42lbs, and is 20 months old. She has a medium-length hair coat and was found as a stray.
Belle is a lovely dog. She is quiet in her foster home and is not destructive at all. She is crate trained though she doesn't require one. As she was found as a stray, she didn't appear to have much socialization. She is timid but it won't take long to warm up to a new family.
Belle is very smart and listens well. She learned the routine of the foster home very quickly. She really does go with the flow of the home. She has a beautiful, gleaming, shiny hair coat. This darling enjoys all sorts of toys and doesn't do too badly on a leash and body harness. She is very quiet in the foster home where she has a couple of other dogs residing with her.
Belle will make an excellent family dog. She loves children, though due to her shyness, we would recommend, children over the age of 10. She is dog selective so she would be happiest as the only dog in the home. We do not know if she likes cats so the home must be cat-free. Cuddles and tv on the couch are her favorite pastimes for her. Though she loves the outdoors, walking in parks, conservation areas, etc gives her great pleasure as she is not used to city traffic. Belle is a low-to-medium energy dog. Belle enjoys car rides and behaves very well in the vehicle.
Belle is fed twice daily. She loves treats and they will work well for further training. Belle is housebroken. At night she sleeps in her crate with the door open. A doggie bed beside one of her family members would be perfect for her. She has some of the Shepherd traits and will be watchful of the family members and alert if danger. Continued socialization is critical for this breed mix.
The ideal home for Belle is a home that's fairly quiet. A family that will take her to obedience training is crucial for this breed mix. Belle will make their family proud when she excels at all her training courses. A family that will include her in their activities is important as well. A structured schedule for her daily routine is important for this breed mix.
Belle is spayed, up to date with vaccines, heartworm tested negative, and dewormed.
A fully fenced backyard and a Veterinarian History of Compliance are mandatory to apply for our Belle.
