Venus

Hi! My Name Is Venus

We're happy to tell you that Venus has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Barks and Meo';ws Rescue introduces Venus.  She is a beautiful beagle gal inside and out.  Venus weighs 26lb and has a shorter hair coat. She is estimated to be 4 years old by the Veterinarians.

Venus came to our Rescue already pregnant as a stray.  Her two babies Frankie and Avalon both have since been adopted.  Venus is very typical of the beagle breed.  She definitely loves food and follows her nose.  Thankfully she is too small to counter surf but she would jump on a chair to get to a table if she could.  She is a real darling and very loving.  She will not let the other dogs in her foster home push her around.  She was a wonderful mother and still plays with the adult dogs in the home.  She is fully housebroken and fed twice daily.  Food is measured out to ensure she keeps her girlish figure.

Venus enjoys sleeping on her doggie bed at night in her foster parent's room.  She is no trouble at all and will walk on a lead, though she of course follows her nose.  We  discovered she ignores the feral cats on the front porch so would be fine with cats in the home. She does enjoy playing with toys, especially stuffies.  Venus rides well in the vehicle and does well in the bathtub.  She is a good girl at the vet.

The ideal home for Venus is one where the family understands that she can never be off-leash unless in a fully fenced area.  As she can climb, the fencing is best if it is made of wood, not chain link.  She will do well in a home with or without another dog.  We suspect she has always had dogs in her life.  Hounds do tend to suffer from separation anxiety so if not another canine in the home, then she should not be alone for more than 4 hours at a time.

Venus is spayed, up to date with vaccines on heartworm flea tick prevention, and microchipped.

A fully fenced yard is mandatory to apply for our Venus and the fence should be made out of wood.

Thank you Melissa Caron Photography for all these lovely photos!
