Taz

Hi! My Name Is Taz

We're happy to tell you that Taz has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Taz.  He is a Lab/Beagle mix.  He weighs 59lbs and is 1 1/2 years old.  Taz is not a tall dog.   He was surrendered to a shelter from a gentleman that had a bunch of dogs, but the neighbors kept complaining so he signed over 5 of them to the shelter.   He has a medium length hair coat.   Taz is very sweet.  He is timid when he meets new people so a quiet home would be best for him.  He has been very good with the other dogs but prefers the female canines,  in his foster home.  Since he is on the cautious side,  if there are children in the home they should be older than 12 years plus so as not to frighten him.  We believe he has Beagle in him.  He is food motivated but more lab characteristics than a hound.  Once Taz knows you, he is very affectionate.  He is not crated in his foster home as he has not been destructive.  He sleeps on a doggy bed at night but we bet he would love to sleep on a bed with a family member if given the chance.  He is really nice and quiet.  He is very mature for his age.  He eats well and is fed twice daily. Taz loves to play outside.  We don't believe he was a house dog before as he was not housebroken when we got him.  Now he loves to be cuddled up with his family watching TV and will go outside only if he has other dogs to keep him company or his family goes out at the same time. He will require a lot of leash work but he loves to go out so we believe it won't take long before he is walking nicely with his family.  He has not been destructive in his foster home at all.  He loves toys of all sorts. He rides quite well in the vehicle. The ideal home for Taz would be one where the family member or members are home a fair amount.  Another female socialized dog that he can build his confidence from would work nicely.  Older children 12 years plus would be fine.  No cats for him as he has not been tested. Taz is neutered, up to date with vaccines, dewormed, and heartworm tested negative. A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian History of Compliance is mandatory to apply for our Taz.
