Stubby

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Stubby.  He is an English Bulldog mix, whose owner had to surrender both him and his half brother Scrappy (same father, different mothers) as they no longer could afford them.  He weighs 42lbs and has a naturally cropped tail.  Stubby is 13 months old.   He has a medium soft hair coat. Stubby is a very social dog.  He is nice and quiet and enjoys playing with toys.  He was recently neutered so we find he does better with female dogs.  He and his brother Scrappy do not get along. He has a huge appetite and has come in very thin.  He is eating a non-chicken-based food, as Bulldogs tend to have food allergies so wanted to be safe.  His food is measured out twice daily.  Stubby is not a fan of very cold weather.  He is housebroken and also paper trained.  He does not drool or snore. Stubby is not used to being walked on a leash so will need work with that.  He was raised with children and cats and does very well with them both.  He rides well in the vehicle.  He does like a lot of attention and cuddling up on the couch.  We would recommend crating for a few more months when the family is not home as he tends to counter surf etc.  He is not crated currently at night. The ideal home for Scrappy is one with children, 7 years and up as he can bowl a child over with one of his big bear hugs.  Another dog would be fine as long as it is a female.  Since he doesn't appreciate the cold, it should be a family that is not that active outdoors with their pets in the Winter.  He loves both men and women so certainly would work in a home who have lots of visitors. Stubby is neutered, 4DX tested negative, up to date with vaccines, and dewormed. A fully fenced backyard and a Veterinarian History of Compliance is mandatory to apply for Stubby.
