Hi! My Name Is Stella

We're happy to tell you that Stella has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Stella. She is a 3 1/2-year-old Golden Labrador Retriever.  She weighs 65 lb and has a medium-length hair coat.  She was surrendered to Barks and Meows Rescue pregnant for the 5th time.

Stella has been a wonderful foster for our Rescue.  She had 11 beautiful babies on July 29th but her babies contracted parvo, leaving 5 survivors who have all since been adopted.  She was surrendered to us by her third family in Ontario.  She had been bred throughout these homes and the last time it was her fifth litter.  She was a fantastic mother and still loves to play with puppies.   Stella loves to play with the larger foster dogs.  She plays hard and loves to herd them.  She is a strong girl who knows whom she can play rough and with whom she needs to be gentle with.  She adores children.  Stella absolutely hates birds and will kill them if they are near.  We are not sure why, something must have happened in her past, so a bird-free home is a necessity.  Stella is very intelligent.  Her recall is excellent and she does what is asked of her.  She loves attention and giving hugs.  Stella is not a yappy gal.  She barks sometimes when playing with other dogs but will stop when told to do so.  She rides very well in the vehicle and loves being outside, regardless of the weather.  She loves to carry toys in her mouth and enjoys bully sticks and strong chew toys.  She sleeps on a Karunda bed at night.  Stella seems fine with the feral cats outside.  She currently eats 2 cups twice daily of Royal Canin Labrador Retriever food.  Stella enjoys going to the vets and loves all their treats and attention giving.

The ideal home for Stella is one where a family is committed to including her in events.  She will do well off-leash once bonded so she would do great at a cottage or on hikes.  We are sure she would love to go swimming and boating.  Another dog in the home would be fine but it should be a large size dog that is able to handle playing hard outside.

Stella is spayed, up to date with vaccines, including Lyme, 4dx tested negative and on heartworm flea tick prevention, 4dx tested negative and microchiped.

A fully fenced yard or a farm, is mandatory to apply for our Stella.

Thank you Melissa Caron Photography for displaying her beauty in your lovely photos.
