Scrappy

Hi! My Name Is Scrappy

We're happy to tell you that Scrappy has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Scrappy.  He is a 21-month-old Bloodhound/ English Bulldog, half-brother to Stubby (same father different mother). He has a medium soft coat and weighs 82lbs.  Both brothers were surrendered as their owners no longer could afford to keep them. Scrappy is a fantastic dog.  If you love big dogs, he really makes the cut.  He very rarely barks but when he does it's a big, deep Bloodhound bay.  At Petvalu, he totally ignored the cats in the cages.  He and Stubby were both raised with children and dogs.  Scrappy loves to give big hugs to all people.  He likes both men and women.  He is fed 2 1/2 cups of food twice daily.  This boy is tall and strong.  He does pull on a leash and harness so he will require further leash work.  Again due, to his breed mix, he will never be allowed off-leash in an unfenced area or he will be gone, following his nose.  He has a beautiful red coat and really is adorable and good-natured. Scrappy does well in the car and is housebroken as well as paper trained.  He has not been destructive in the home and does not require crating any longer.   The ideal home for Scrappy is one where the family enjoys taking their dogs for walks.  He is too strong for a child to walk him but loves the outdoors including the snow.  Children are fine but ages 7 and up as his hugging skills can knock down a child.  Hounds get bored easily and tend to suffer from separation anxiety,  so a second socialized dog in the home is mandatory. Scrappy is neutered, up to date with vaccines, 4DX tested negative, and dewormed. He is on Heartworm/flea/tick prevention.   A fully fenced backyard (fencing must be wood), a resident socialized dog, and Veterinarian History of Compliance is mandatory to apply for our Scrappy.
