Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Petunia. She is an 18 month old Boxer mix weighing 48lbs. Petunia was found as a stray and has a short hair coat. Petunia is just a wonderful Boxer gal. She passed 8 weeks of training in the New Leash on Life, prison training program. She knows sit, stay, leave it, come, down, off and watch. She comes with a certificate of completion and a booklet on the hand signals used. This training yards treat rewards as their methods. Petunia does well with most other dogs but is dog selective. She has a prey drive so does not do well with cats. She adores children. She wagged her tail so much at the shelter that it got infected, from banging against the walls. She had to have her tail amputated and now can wag it as much as she wants. She is housebroken and has a very good appetite. She is fed twice daily. Petunia is crate trained but doesn't require it in her current foster home. She is known to be a fence jumper so a solid wooden fence, minimum 6 feet high, is a requirement. She is a mid energy girl. She does quite well in the vehicle, but requires further leash/body harness training. Petunia is very loving and quiet. Loyal and family oriented, typical of her breed. The ideal home is one where the family is home a fair amount due to her age. She will require some off leash running each day. A good size yard is important for this activity. Once she is leash trained she would make a good jogging partner but not in the hot weather. Petunia would be best as the only dog in the home. Petunia is spayed, fully vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested negative and microchipped. A large fully fenced yard, minimum 6ft high wooden fencing, and a Veterinarian history of compliance is mandatory in order to apply for Petunia.
