Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Mommy Molly. She is a heeler mix, born in January 2020 with a medium hair coat. She was rescued from a shelter as a stray already pregnant. She had a beautiful litter of 9 puppies. She weighs 45 lbs.
Molly is just a wonderful dog. She is so loving and loyal to her foster family. Molly was a wonderful Mom to her 9 babies, a large litter for her size. She developed Mastitis during nursing but it was caught early and antibiotics treated it quickly allowing her to continue nursing with Foster Mom helping to bottle feed. She is a gentle soul with love in her eyes. Due to her breed mix, she is alert and focused. She does not nip at your heels like purebred cattle dogs might do. She loves her food bowl so is fed twice daily with her food measured out. Molly is affectionate and loving without being pushy. She is very playful with puppies. Being outside in the grass, rolling around, playing with toys is her favourite pastime. She is slightly timid and needs to learn how to walk on a lead. She currently is fostered in the country so is not used to being walked out in the city.
Molly had tested positive for Erlichia , caused by a tick bite when she was Rescued, so she was treated with antibiotics once she finished weaning. She is a healthy gal now and is in perfect shape.
The ideal home for her would be one where she gets to spend a lot of outdoor time with the family but not in the heat. A family that will include her in activities as often as possible will make her so happy. Due to her breed mix, she will eventually be great off-leash for hikes and cottages, once she is bonded with the family members. She has not been tested with cats and may herd them so a cat-free home would be the most safe. She loves children and is very gentle with them. Molly is medium energy so a home where she receives daily exercise 3 times daily. She would eventually excel in obedience class, it would help build her confidence level. Molly in is heaven playing with any type of toy, shes very intelligent so handles toys that make her think really well.
Thank you Melissa Caron Photography for your showcasing her beauty!
Molly is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and on heartworm/flea/tick prevention.
A fully fenced yard, or farm, is mandatory to apply for our Molly. She would do best as an only dog.
