Barks and Meows Rescue introduces MIttens, She is an 18-month-old Australian Shepherd MIx. She has medium length fur and weighs 47lbs. Mittens was surrendered to REscue after her owner died. This poor soul has had a terrible life. She was chained up to an old school bus on the property. She also had at least one litter living that life. NOw she is in Rescue and you never have known she had been an outdoor dog. She is housebroken and very well behaved. She is a mid energy dog who is great with all other dogs. She does not like cats but loves children. She does quite well on a lead and body harness and rides excellently in the vehicle. She is also a nice and quiet dog. Currently, she sleeps on the couch at night. MIttens has a beautiful soft flowing coat. She is light on her feet and very intelligent without being hyper. She is the perfect family dog. She has a good appetite and is ed in a crate. MIttens is housebroken and may need to be crated at the onset with her new family to see how she does when the family is not home. True to her breed, she is agile and could easily scale a chain-link fence. She enjoys all sorts of toys. The ideal home for Mittens is one where she is included in her family's activities outside of the home. She will be a very good off-leash candidate, once bonded with the family, for hiking, cottages, boating, etc. She would do well in obedience or agility. Mittens is spayed, 4DX tested negative, up to date with vaccines, fecal tested negative, on heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick prevention. A fully fenced yard, a minimum of at least 6 feet high and made of wood as well as a Veterinarian History of Compliance, is mandatory in order to apply for Mittens.
