Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Missy. She is a beautiful, 3 1/2-year-old, 55 lb Tree Walking Coonhound. Her tricolored markings a stunning. She was an owner surrendered as her previous family understood that she required a second dog in the home for her to feel settled and less anxious. Missy has been very well looked after. True to her hound traits, she is very social. She loves all people, children, and dogs. Unfortunately, due to her prey drive instance, she does not like cats. Missy has a short hair coat, not too coarse in texture. She certainly does not like thunderstorms and being alone with no other dog in the home. She is not crate trained, but she does not need to be. She does not chew, is non-destructive, and fully housebroken. Typical of the Coonhound, she loves mealtime. Her food is measured out twice daily to ensure she doesn't overeat. Having said this, she will counter surf as she will follow her nose to the food. She will need to be walked on a body harness to ensure she doesn't slip her collar. She rides very well in the car, and not too bad on a boat. She is not a swimmer and doesn't like going outside when it is raining. She is a couch potato, most of the time, and can be found on the lazy boy chairs in her foster home. At night she sleeps on a couch. The ideal home for Missy is one with another socialized canine. She does like to play with dogs her size or larger. She will need a fully fenced yard, a minimum 6 feet high wood, all the way around as she can scale fences, based on her breed. Hounds do not like to be left without their humans for too long, so a family that is not gone for hours on end is what we are looking for. Missy is spayed, fully vaccinated, 4DX tested negative, dewormed, and on flea/tick prevention. She will come with a leash, collar, and body harness. A fully fenced yard, a socialized resident canine, and a Veterinarian History of Compliance is mandatory in order to apply for Missy.
