Mary

Hi! My Name Is Mary

We're happy to tell you that Mary has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Mary.  She is an Australian Shepherd mix born on April 27 so is now 3 months old.  She has a wavy coat as it is starting to get a bit longer.  Mary came to our Rescue when a backyard breeder decided he no longer wanted him or her siblings, Peter and Paul.   At 8 weeks of age, she weighed 11.3kg and is definitely over 25lbs now at 12 weeks.

Mary is very smart. She was the first of the three to learn to climb onto the chair and loves to lay on the back of the lazy boy of her foster family's chair because it's in front of the window air conditioner.    Her herding instincts are apparent as she loves to herd the big dogs in her foster home and has a high level of endurance.  Mary is a leader and Peter and Paul follow her lead.  She is gentle with all dogs and wants to give everyone kisses.  Mary is currently eating Royal Canin Medium Breed Puppy Food and is a big eater, three times daily.  Being outdoors is her favourite activity so she can run and chase the other dogs in the yard.

We are not sure if Mary came from another litter or is actually a sibling to Peter and Paul.  Regardless, they treat her like a sister and all three get along very well.  Mary loves toys and will be a medium to a high-energy dog when fully grown.  She will require a job to do so having her enroll in dog activity classes would be ideal.  Her recall is excellent and she is fed in her crate.

The ideal home for Mary would be one where the family has the time to devote to this breed. They are loving and loyal but will get bored easily due to their herding instincts and intelligence level.  Mary is not nippy at all at his point and is very sweet.  She will make an excellent family addition. Another socialized dog would be a bonus.

UPDATE : On January 20 she was spayed at 10 months and weighed 22.7kg

UPDATE: On August 15 she had her final set of shots including Lepto and Rabies.

On July 15 they had their first set of vaccines, including Bordetella. were microchipped, dewormed, and given Nexguard Spectra for heartworm/flea/tick prevention. She has no health concerns at this point as per the Veterinarian.

A fully fenced yard or a large farm and a Veterinarian History of Compliance are mandatory to apply for Mary.

Thank you to Melissa Caron Photography for the extra effort in getting these wonderful shots
