Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Mango. He is one of 11 puppies born to Mommy Cherry on May 2, 2021. There are 6 females, and 5 males in the litter. Mommy's Cherry's DNA has been done and she is 3/4 Australian Cattle Dog and 1/4 Terrier. We have no idea who the father/fathers are, but we believe they have Mountain Cur and Hound in them. Mommy Cherry is about 38lbs. We believe this litter will range between 30-50 lbs. We estimate them to be mid-size dogs. He has learned what no means and no longer jumps up on people. His mouthing has stopped as he now has learned to give kisses instead. Mango is now housebroken and also pee pad trained. His foster family allows him to sleep on the bed. His recall is excellent and he is fed in his crate. He enjoys playing with the other dogs in the foster home and his mother who can play as hard as he does. He is very food motivated and is fed three times daily. We believe he was bored in his foster home, not having learned the difference between playing with another dog and the children. Mango is affectionate and loves to sleep beside you on the chair or sofa. He will need leash work, but using a harness and lead will make it so much easier. His ideal home will be one where they are socialized constantly with both other dogs and people. This breed mix is very loyal and will look after the family. An active family is best is defined as taking their dogs out on hikes, to the ballpark, boating, cottaging, and engaging them in obedience training. Obedience training definitely is important and mandatory, He will shine as his level of intelligence is large and their recall will come naturally, once bonded to their families. He has a herding instinct and a prey drive so other animals other than a dog are not ideal. Another resident socialized dog in the home will be a bonus. Mango is now fully vaccinated including Lepto and Bordetella. He is microchipped and on monthly heatworm/flea/tick prevention. A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian History of Compliance are mandatory to apply for Mango. We will not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.
