Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Kiwi. She is one of 11 puppies born to Mommy Cherry on May 2, 2021. There are 6 females, and 5 males in the litter. Mommy's Cherry's DNA has been done and she is 3/4 Australian Cattle Dog and 1/4 Terrier. We have no idea who the father/fathers are, but we believe they have Mountain Cur and Hound in them. Mommy Cherry is about 38lbs. We believe this litter will range between 30-50 lbs. We estimate them to be mid-size dogs. Kiwi is cute as a button. You cannot help but love her wonderful adoring personality. She is currently the smallest in the litter but not in spirit. She has rear dewclaws. This gal plays well with her siblings but being picked up and cuddled by her foster mom is her absolute favourite thing. This litter is paper trained. They are all very good in the bath and the photographer commented on how well behaved they were for their photoshoot compared to some of our previous litters. Mommy Cherry was able to nurse them up until 4 weeks. After that we took over, starting them on moistened Royal Canine Small Breed puppy food with puppy supplement. They now are on Royal Canine Medium Breed Puppy food with nothing added. They are free-fed 4 times daily. This litter has had an abundance of toys and loves to play with all types. They get warm easily in this weather so they can be found spread out across the whelping room when sleeping. This litter will not require professional grooming. Kiwi should eventually have a medium hair coat. This litter is a typical puppy litter. Their ideal homes will be one where they are socialized constantly with both other dogs and people. This breed mix is very loyal and will look after the family. An active family is best. Obedience training definitely is important and mandatory, They should shine as their level of intelligence is large and their recall will come naturally. They will have a herding instinct and a prey drive so other animals other than a dog is not ideal. Another resident socialized dog in the home, of the opposite sex, will be a bonus. This litter has been dewormed every two weeks since birth as has Mommy Cherry. On Friday, June 25 they will have their first set of vaccines,(including Bordetella), receive their microchips, and their health exam. They will be ready to go to their new homes from June 27th onwards. A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian History of Compliance are mandatory to apply for Kiwi. We will not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.
