Hambone

Hi! My Name Is Hambone

We're happy to tell you that Hambone has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Cadbury.  He is one of 7 puppies, born to Mommy Lily on Easter Monday. There are 6 males and one female in this litter.   Mommy is a hound/retriever we are guessing.  We had a DNA test done on one of the pups in the litter (Pascal)  and he was found to be a beagle/coonhound/German Shepherd, Boxer, and Chow.  Cadbury's new family had a DNA test done and he was found to be Beagle/German Shepherd, Greyhound, and Husky.   Eggie has a fluffy, soft hair coat.  Mommy Lily weighs about 48 lbs, but we anticipate this litter being at least 60lbs.  There may have been more than one father involved in this conception.

Hambone is really striking in person.  He appears to have a mix of all the breeds of Mom and Dad in him, whatever that may be.  He is the second-largest currently.  Hambone loves his foster family and is always nearby.  He plays well with his siblings and is not a bully.  He too enjoys all sorts of toys and his food bowl.  This boy loves to be held and cuddled and when you put him down he wants more.     He is wonderful in the bath and great for his nail trims. This fellow loves being outside, and will eventually enjoy his walks we are sure of that.

The entire litter is paper trained and was free fed until they reach 8 weeks.  They are fed 4 times daily and are on Royal Canin, Medium Breed Puppy Food.  They love all sorts of toys but squeaky ones, stuffies, and rope toys are their favorite.  Their dispositions are wonderful, having received this trait for sure from their wonderful Mom Lily who is a Saint.

Hambone is on a schedule for both feeding 3 times daily and sleeping.   A home that is too busy won't work for them.  They will require stimulation and a job to do.  Getting them involved right away in obedience training is a must.  We can assure you that they will excel and be the best in their class.  Socialization of this litter is very important.  The more people, children, dogs, and cats they are exposed to, the better.

On Saturday, June 11, they had their first set of vaccines done, microchipping, and health check. Hambone weighed 6.6 kg and at his fecal appointment, on June 20, he weighed 7.1kg. They have been dewormed every two weeks since birth and it continued until they were eight weeks.

UPDATE:  July 9 had second set of vaccines.  He weighs 11 Kg!  The vets says he is a very healthy boy.  He started Royal Canin Large Breed Formula today as per the Vets instructions.

UPDATE: July 30 had his final set of vaccines and rabies vaccines.  He weighed 14.5 kg.

UPDATE: Aug 24 weigh in for more heartworm meds, 18.7kg.

UPDATE: Oct 24 neutered weighed 24.3kg

A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian History of Compliance are mandatory to apply for our Hambone.
