Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Gracie. She is a 3 year old Boxer/Black Mouth Cur Mix. She weighs 54lbs and had a medium length hair coat. She was rescued as a stray, already pregnant, from a high kill shelter. Poor Gracie was adopted in January with a family with a male dog who was quite social. Gracie has been excellent in her foster home with other dogs but unfortunately, picked on her new fur brother. Her previous family said she seemed jealous of him and wanted to show she was the alpha. Obviously everyone was so upset that her behavior was not changing. It was best that Gracie find a different type of family dynamic, perhaps as an only dog. Though she is great with various dogs in the foster home, she will require to be the only dog in the home. She is mid to high energy so she will get bored quickly so lots of stimuli is going to be important. She was protective of her owners on a leash so socializing with other dogs will need to continue but off-leash. True to her breed, she can be stubborn so a dog-savvy family who is willing to show her they are in charge is important. Gracie is very loving with people and children. She would do best in a cat-free home. She loves to play with everyone in the home. Gracie is crate trained and crated when the family is out of the home. She is very smart and yearns to be cuddled as much as possible. She sleeps in her doggie bed or couch at night time. Gracie has a huge appetite so get food is measured out twice daily. She is fully housebroken and rides excellently in the car. She requires more work walking in a body harness and lead but that will come with practice. This sweetie is not a noisy dog. She food motivated making training so much easier. She knows her basic commands. Gracie is spayed, Fully vaccinated, dewormed and 4dx tested negative. A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian history of compliance is mandatory in order to apply for our Gracie.
