Fred

Hi! My Name Is Fred

Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Fred. He is an 8-year-old lab mix who is just the sweetest guy. He weighs 53lbs and has medium length fur, He was found as a stray. Fred is a gem of a dog. He is very obedient, quiet, housebroken, good with other dogs and rides well in the vehicle. He needs work walking on a leash as we believe he had free reign before he came to our Rescue. We believe going for walks, would be the highlight of his day. He doesn't appear bothered by the outdoor feral cats at his foster home. He enjoys his mealtime twice daily. He loves sleeping on this doggy bed in his foster parent's room. The bigger the bed, the better. When Fred saw the vet for his booster and 4 DX test in June, the vets noted on his records that he was a very muscular healthy dog. He has a soft shiny coat and seems to be able to handle various types of dry food. He doesn't mind going out in the rain and we are sure he loves snow. He enjoys the company of other dogs but does not play with them. He is quite the velcro dog and always wants to be with his family. He has the wonderful temperament of the lab but is much calmer. He is very good with children. Fred is just such a sweet soul. Each time we bring in a Senior, we always wish we had more of them in our care. They are so easy to look after in comparison to an adolescent dog. Quiet, already trained, no need fo another dog in the home and out of the te terrible two-stage! Fred would be considered a low energy boy. Fred will be an excellent candidate for off-leash walks at a cottage or on a hiking trail once he is bonded with his family as he doesn't appear to have a prey drive. The ideal home for Fred will be one where he is taken for a couple of walks each day. A family who is settled and not too active, perhaps retired would suit him perfectly. He deserves to live the life of leisure, something tells us he was on the move for far too long in his life before Rescue. Fred is neutered, vaccinated, on heartworm and flea prevention and tested negative on his 4 DX testing. A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian history of compliance is mandatory in order to apply for Fred,
