Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Cadbury. He is one of 7 puppies, born to Mommy Lily on Easter Monday. Mommy is a hound/retriever we are guessing. There are 6 males and 1 female in the litter. We had a DNA test done on one of the pups in the litter (Pascal) and he was found to be a beagle/coonhound/German Shepherd, Boxer, and Chow. Cadbury's new family had a DNA test done and he was found to be Beagle/German Shepherd, Greyhound, and Husky. Eggie has a fluffy, soft hair coat. Mommy Lily weighs about 48 lbs, but we anticipate this litter being at least 60lbs. There may have been more than one father involved in this conception.
Eggie is a big marshmallow. His brothers constantly are tackling him and because he is so big, he has a hard time rolling over. LOL. He is a gentle, loverboy, who is not assertive at all. Eggie loves to be held and cuddled and sung to. He is one of the two fluffy ones in this litter. He is quiet and a toy-ahololic. One can always find him with a toy. He gets so excited when new toys are mixed in and is the first to run and grab one before his brothers do. Eggie is the largest in the litter by a fair amount. He has just a fabulous disposition. Eggie is wonderful in the bath and great for his nail trims. This fellow loves being outside, out of the sun as he gets warm easily due to the fluffy coat.
The entire litter is paper trained and was free fed until they reached 8 weeks. They are fed 4 times daily and are on Royal Canin, Medium Breed Puppy Food. They love all sorts of toys but squeaky ones, stuffies, and rope toys are their favorite. Their dispositions are wonderful, having received this trait for sure from their wonderful Mom Lily who is a Saint.
Eggie and Hambbone now love to go outside with the rest of the dogs in their foster home. They are on schedules for eating and sleeping so a home that is too busy won't work for them. They will require stimulation and a job to do. Getting them involved right away in obedience training is a must We can assure you that they will excel and be the best in their class. Socialization of this litter is very important. The more people, children, dogs, and cats they are exposed to, the better.
On Saturday, June 11, they had their first set of vaccines done, microchipping, and health check. Eggie weighed 7.19 kg and on June 20 weighed 7.3kg. They have been dewormed every two weeks since birth and it continued until they were eight weeks. Both Eggie and Hambone have been treated with Revolution to prevent heartworm,/flea, and ticks for June. They will have their boosters on July 9.
UPDATE: July 9 boosters given and his heartmurmer is no more. He weighed 13 Kg! Vet says he is a very healthy boy, now on Royal Canin Large Breed Puppy as per the vets instructions.
A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian History of Compliance are mandatory to apply for our Eggie.
