Denim

Hi! My Name Is Denim

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Denim.  He was born on March 21 to Mommy Velvet in Sudbury having been rescued from a Reserve.  His one sibling passed away at birth.  Mommy Velvet appears to be a Shepherd/Cattledog mix.  We have no idea who the father is.  He has medium-length hair and weighed 8kg on May 23.  He is getting bigger every day.  We believe he may reach the 70lb mark at this point when fully grown.

Denim is an adorable Teddy Bear.  Extra care was taken to socialize him with people and other dogs early because he was a singleton pup.  He is used to dogs of all sizes and has a beautiful gentle disposition.  Mommy Velvet is one of the most sociable dogs and was a terrific Mom to Baby Denim.  She still plays with him as he likes to wrestle with her.  Denim is extremely intelligent, like his Mom, no surprise for this fantastic breed mix.  He is a herding breed, so an unfenced farm property would work well for him.  He learns new tasks very quickly.  Denim is fed 4 times daily and is currently fed Royal Canin German Shepherd Puppy Dry Food.

Denim loves the outdoors but gets hot very quickly due to his thick coat.  He loves chewing sticks and his balls outside in the shade.  He is paper trained and now learning to go outside.  Denim is quiet at this point, again, due to his excellent breed mix.  We believe his ears will eventually stand straight up.

Denim loves all dogs, children, and people.  He will need continued socialization once adopted.  He loves all types of toys including stuffies, rope toys, and squeaky toys. Denim sleeps through the night.

The ideal home for Denim is one with another socialized dog that he can bond with.  He is used to a large country property and having a huge yard to be able to run and explore in.  He is not the greatest boy in the bath but a walk-in shower may prove to be easier.   He loves cuddles and kisses though he is getting heavier to pick up all the time.

Denim has had his first set of Vaccines, is on Revolution for heartworm/flea/tick prevention, has been dewormed every 2 months since birth, and is microchipped.

UPDATE:  Denim had his second set of vaccines on June 10th and weighed 29 lbs.

UPDATE: Denim had his final set of vaccines on July 8 and weighed 39 lbs.

A fully fenced yard or a farm and another socialized resident canine in the home are mandatory to apply for our Denim.  As always, his neuter.at West Lorne Animal Hospital, will be included in the adoption fee.
