Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Elaine. She is a 2-year-old Tri ticked hound with a short hair coat. She weighs 51lbs. She was found as a stray with a microchip number but the phone number was out of service. Elaine is a very social hound. She loves playing with her giggly wiggly ball and other dogs. This gal is quiet. She only barks if there is good reason to. She is crate trained and eats and sleeps in at night or when her family is not home. She has a hound appetite so her food is measured out and nothing is ever left out on the counters for her to try to get to. She loves to run outside in the snow and prance about. Elaine requires a coat in the winter as she has no body fat and gets cold easily. She isn't too bad on a leash but will need further work. Elaine rides very nicely in the vehicle. Elaine is very food motivated making the training very easy. She takes treats gently from the hand. Elaine really enjoys children but not cats. She does have a prey drive. Sitting on the couch in the evenings watching and cuddling with the family is her favorite pastime. Her breed is bred to climb trees so a minimum 6-foot high fence is necessary. Hounds do not do well crated for long periods of time so we are looking for a family who is home more often than not. A fully fenced yard, a second resident dog and a Veterinarian History of Compliance are mandatory in order to apply for our Elaine. Elaine is spayed, fully vaccinated, 4DX tested negative and dewormed.
