WHEREAS Barks and Meows Rescue has dogs available for adoption by the Adopter; and WHEREAS Adopter agrees to adopt the dog on the terms and conditions contained herein, NOW, THEREFORE, THIS CONTRACT WITNESSES that in consideration of the premises and the mutual covenants contained herein; the parties agree as follows:

Terms & Conditions*
- I/We agree to provide my pet with proper food, water, shelter, veterinary care and humane treatment at all times and will not expect reimbursement from Barks and Meows Rescue for any expenses incurred thereof.
- I/We agree that any agent of / from Barks and Meows Rescue may inspect this animal and its living condition at any reasonable time and may reclaim it if there is evidence that any terms of this Contract or the Adoption Policy are violated.
- I/We agree not to abandon, sell, re-home or dispose of this animal in any way. In the event that family circumstances require the animal to be removed from said family, it shall be returned to Barks and Meows Rescue.
- I/We agree that the animal shall not be euthanized, unless recommended by a qualified, practicing veterinarian and with written notification advising Barks and Meows Rescue of such.
- I/We agree this animal is not to be used for research/experimental purposes.
- We agree to ensure that rabies, DHPP, and Lepto vaccines are always up to date and that Heartworm/flea/tick Prevention will be given each year seasonally, from June 1 to Nov 1. and longer if recommended by your Veterinarian.
- We agree to ensure that our Veterinarian Clinics have permission to share the medical records of the adopted dog in question at any time requested by the Rescue.
- I/We agree to tag, license, and rabies - inoculate an adopted dog in accordance with the laws of the community in which I/We reside.
- I understand that Barks and Meows Rescue cannot guarantee the health, behaviour, age or temperament of this animal.
- No claim, action suit in law or in equity will be brought by me/us against Barks and Meows Rescue, its agents or officers by reason of this adoption.
- I/We are 19 years of age or older.
- Barks and Meows Rescue assumes no liability for any animal after this Adoption Contract has been signed.
- I/We understand in the event the Dog is not yet spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, that the spay/neuter fee the adopter is responsible for the cost of the surgery being done at their own clinic. The adoption fee has been reduced to $600 to allow for that cost to the adopter. The surgery must be done at 6 months of age and the date of the surgery must be emailed to Barks and Meows Rescue for their records.
- I/We understand that the description of the breed is an ESTIMATE only, based on a visual assessment by Barks and Meows Rescue volunteers for appearance identification purposes only and does not reflect the various compilations and perceived personality traits of potential breed
- I/We agree to use humane, positive reinforcement training methods to train the Dog and will not use force coercion or physical corrections to teach new behaviours and/or to change behaviour.
- I/We agree not to use electronic shock, prong/pinch or choke collar on the Dog
- I/We understand the dog is up-to-date with vaccines and de-worming and flea medication at the time of this adoption. If the Dog is 3 months or older it has also had the Bordetella vaccine.
- I/We agree to have any necessary follow-up treatments (including booster shots) performed by a Veterinarian.
- I/We have read and understand the above terms and information.
