Adoption Fees

Why Do Rescues Have Adoption Fees?

Along with daily care costs, the adoption fees help the Barks and Meows Adoption Rescue cover vaccination and medical prep costs for the dogs. At adoption, Barks and Meows Adoption Rescue dogs will be current on their vaccines and will have the following:

Adoption Fees:

Puppies up to 1 year old - $950
  • Has age appropriate vaccines
  • Is Dewormed
  • May or may not be altered.  If altered or Not Yet Altered BUT the adopter wants Barks and Meows Rescue to Include the spay/neuter done, which would only be at West Lorne Animal Hospital in West Lorne at the age of 1 year.
  • $650 is the adoption fee if done at the adopter's clinic and the adopter incurs the cost of their own altering expenses.
  • Has Not Been Heartworm Tested
  • Is microchipped
  • Is on heartworm prevention (if in season) flea/ tick prevention
  • Fed exclusively Royal Canin Puppy Food
  • Comes with a collar
  • Is microchipped
Adult Dog 13 months Up To 8 Years - $650
  • Is Fully Vaccinated
  • Is Dewormed
  • Is Altered
  • Has Been 4DX Tested
  • Is on Heartworm  prevention (if in season), flea/tick prevention
  • Comes with a leash, collar and body harness
  • Is microchipped
Senior Dog Over 8 Years - $350
  • Is Fully Vaccinated
  • Is Dewormed
  • Is Altered
  • Has been 4DX tested
  • Is on Heartworm Prevention (if in season) and flea/tick
  • Comes with a leash, collar and body harness
  • Is microchipped

Adoption Inclusions:

  • Rabies: 1 year or 3 year)
  • Distemper (DHLPP or DHLPP-C)
  • Bordetella
  • Lepto
  • Lyme
  • 4DX test or Heartworm Prevention
  • Altered: Females Spayed or Males Neutered (over 6 Months)
  • Heartworm/Flea Prevention
  • Dewormed
  • MicroChipped (in some cases-depending on the Shelter)
