Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Pecan. She is one of 3 puppies surrendered by a backyard breeder who could not sell them. Their Mom is a Red Siberian Husky and the Dad is a Short Haired Saint Bernard. They all have medium length coats. They were born on National Ice Cream Flavour Day, July 1, 2024, hence the name Pecan.
Pecan came into Rescue being the bravest of the 3. She was the first to go into a crate to eat and eventually they learned to sleep in their crate as well. Pecan has the most striking blue eyes that just seem to mesmerize you. The eyes she gets from her Husky side and her calmness comes from the Saint Bernard side. She plays nicely with other dogs and her siblings. We are not seeing that these dogs will be larger than 60lbs at this point, when fully grown. She doesn't have large paws. She currently is eating twice daily and is on Royal Canin Labrador Retriever Puppy food.
With Pecan's thick coat, she gets warm easily so loves the cooler weather and playing outside. They all like to chew so bully sticks and other durable Kong like toys do well for them. She sleeps on a Karunda bed at night and is in the not too bad in the bathtub.
Their temperaments are calm, not hyper like a Husky. They are quiet and only barks a little when playing with each other. They do not get carsick and are currently crated when in the vehicle.
They will need to learn how to walk on a harness and lead. They learn new tasks quickly and go outside to potty.
Pecan has had two sets of vaccines and is dewormed.
A fully fenced yard is mandatory to apply for our Pecan.
