Scout

Hi! My Name Is Scout

We're happy to tell you that Scout has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Scout.  She is a Terrier mix and weighs 8.6 kg.  She will be under 30lbs when fully grown.  She has medium-length fur and a tail that curls.

Scout has been a joy to foster.  She is so smart and knows multiple commands and tasks.  She crate-trained so easily and has been very well socialized with other dogs.  She does well at public outings having experienced a Puppy Yoga class.  She is a lover of all people and dogs.  She has no fear of meeting new dogs, and has a strong confidence level yet not over the top.  Scout came to our Rescue as an orphan after her Mom was hit and killed by a car.  Unfortunately,  her siblings succumbed to the parvo virus but Scout never had any symptoms.  It was clear she had a different father than her siblings, so genetically, her immune system was strong enough to not have the virus affect her.

Scout loves to play with other dogs and toys.  She is small so prefers the smaller size squeeky toys and balls.  She is currently on Royal Canin Pug Puppy Food. thrice daily,  and doing fabulous.  We have ensured she was paper-trained when she was younger but she prefers to go outside.  She is fed in a crate and sleeps in a crate at night.   This little one loves water and we bet she will be a swimmer.  She plays in her water bowl and puddles any chance she gets.  Scout hops into the bath and hops out when it is done with no issues.  She is crated in the vehicle and does well.

Scout will require leash training as she has had none to speak of.  She will learn quickly, and if there is a resident canine in her new home, she definitely will follow what they do.  The ideal home for Scout will be one with another resident male dog.  Although she does well with all dogs, she will want to be the boss with another female. As she will excel in obedience, we are looking for a family who will take her to classes to continue her socialization and to keep her mind active. Scout is one sweet little girl who makes us smile multiple times a day.  Scout loves children so any child over the age of 6 would be fine.

Scout is up to date with vaccines, on heartworm flea/tick prevention and has been dewormed.  She will be microchipped in time for her adoption.

UPDATE:  Scout had her boosters and her lepto vaccine.  She now weighs 9.1 kg.

A fully fenced yard is mandatory to apply for our Scout.

Thank you very much to Stephen Taylor Photography for all these absolutely,  adorable photos.
