Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Sonnet. She is one of 8 puppies born on a farm. Her mother is an Australian Cattle Dog and the Father is a Catahoula mix. Sonnet has a short hair coat and may reach 55 lbs when fully grown.
Sonnet arrived in our Rescue with her brother Sonar. She was the more brave of the two and right away, was off exploring and meeting the other dogs in her foster home. This gal is a lot heavier than she looks and is very solid. She came in a bit too heavy so her food maintenance has to be monitored. She looks very much like her mother and will likely be stout when fully grown. Her legs are much shorter than her brother's. That wrinkly face is a magnet for kisses from her family.
Her favourite pastime is eating. She doesn't play much with toys at this point, she would rather be off exploring, it is her current job to do. She is quiet and barks sometimes when playing with her brother. Currently, she is eating Iams Small Breed Puppy food with some warm water. Sonnet loves it when she gets some canned food mixed in it. Both pups are paper-trained and are now training to go outside. If not too hot, she will eventually be very partial to outdoor life. Sonnet does very well in the bathtub and rides well crated in the vehicle.
The ideal home for Sonnet will be one where she is kept fairly busy due to her breed mix. Her breed mix requires a job to do so a couch potato lifestyle will not work. Obedience training using positive reinforcement methods and continued socialization with people and other dogs will ensure she becomes a wonderful adult dog. The family must be partial to outdoor activities and provide her with stimulation so she does not become bored.
On March 7, she had her second set of vaccines, including Lyme, Lepto and Bordetella. She was also given Nexguard Spectra. She weighed 7.8 Kg.
A fully fenced yard or a working farm is mandatory to apply for our Sonnet.
