Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Walnut. She is one of two siblings brought to our Rescue from way up North, First Nations Lake Constance. We have no idea what her breed mix is so are making a guess based on her current looks. He is about 7 lbs at 8 1/2 weeks of age. He has a beautiful soft black coat with white markings.
Walnut has done very well in a socialized environment. She was not as shy as Cashew upon intake and has helped teach Cashew that new friends and people are good things Coming from the Reserve, both she and her brother didn't have human contact but did trust being around other dogs. They both have learned to trust people from the resident dogs in the foster home. They are very smart and will go to the empty water bowl to ask for a drink. Both have terrific appetites and are fed in their crate. Walnut loves attention, kisses and being cuddled. They are fed 3 times daily and are on Small Breed Performatrin Puppy Food. They are having lots of fun with toys and playing hide and seek with one another under the furniture. Toys were new to them and they enjoy them all. They are paper-trained and learning to go outside. Walnut and her brother are both crate-trained.
The ideal home for Walnut will be one where she continues to socialize with both people and animals. She is gentle while playing so would enjoy children in the home. Taking him to obedience classes is key to maintaining a well-socialized trained pup. We estimate they may reach up to 30 lbs when fully grown.
Walnut and her brother came to us having had their first vaccines but we are also getting the Bordetella and Lepto vaccines done on January 10th. They will be microchipped at that time as well. They will be available to go to their new homes anytime after January 10th.
A fully fenced yard is mandatory to apply for our little Walnut.
