Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Mommy Ellie. She is a blue heeler who came to us already pregnant from a shelter in Kentucky. She had 8 beautiful babies on Oct 17. She weighs 17.2kg and has a short hair coat. Mommy Ellie is estimated by the Vets to be 2 years old.
Mommy Ellie is a very sweet gal. Everyone who meets her says this. She is slightly timid at first but loves attention and cuddles. She, like her babies, is very food motivated. Her food is measured twice daily to ensure she does not overeat. Ellie is more vocal than her babies. She will bark if someone is at the door. This comes from her nurturing instinct and the protectiveness of her babies. Ellie is a very good girl in the vehicle and at the vet's. She is not used to being walked on a lead so her adopters will have to work with her on this. She has lived her entire life in rural areas including her foster home. She does well with other dogs but cats are unknown. Ellie is very playful with toys as well as her babies and the foster family's dogs. She is very social for a Blue Heeler.
The ideal home and mandatory for Ellie, would be a large fenced property or a farm. She definitely has herding instincts so if there are children they should be 10 years old plus as she would herd small children if running around. A more quiet home would best suit her personality. As we do not know if she likes cats and would most likely herd them, a cat-free home is necessary.
Ellie is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
