Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Mommy Cali. She is 4 years old, and weighs 46lbs. We believe she is a lab/Australian Cattle Dog Mix. She arrived in our Rescue Pregnant as her owners were moving and giving her away! Cali has been such a joy to have in our foster care for the last 3 1/2months. On July 23, Cali had 8 beautiful healthy babies. She was a fantastic, nurturing Mom who continued to play with and clean her babies until they were adopted out. She has a fabulous personality and is so very social. Cali loves all dogs, regardless of size, sex, or age. She loves them so much that a resident dog in the home is mandatory in order to apply for her. She loves to play with the other dogs, so needs a playmate, not just a companion. Cali is very clean and housebroken. She has a healthy appetite so her food is measured out twice daily. She loves chew toys and is partial to bully sticks and antlers which is what she had while pregnant. Cali loves to sleep in the bed with her foster family or at the very least a chair or couch. She loves to give kisses and cuddles. She will need work on walking on a leash but she is as smart as a whip, just like all her babies. She is very quiet, even when playing with other dogs, she is not a talker. Cali rides well in a vehicle. She does not require crating. The ideal home for Cali, is one where there is another canine playmate for her. She is very nurturing so age would be no matter. She loves to be with the family so one, that is active with their dogs each day would be perfect. She listens well and her recall is excellent. She came to us with a burn strip on her back due to an allergic reaction to topical flea products. She will require heartworm flea/tick meds in pill form, no topicals. Cali is spayed, up to date with vaccines, dewormed, 4DX tested negative and on heartworm/flea/tick prevention. She is also microchipped. A fully fenced yard, another resident canine dog to play with, and a fully fenced yard are mandatory to apply for our Cali.
