Linus

Hi! My Name Is Linus

We're happy to tell you that Linus has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Linus.  He is a hound/boxer mix, with fur that feels like velour.  He is about 46lbs and has short a short hair coat and a long snout.  Linus is 10 months old and was found as a stray. Linus is currently fostered with with other dogs in the home. Linus is quite apprehensive about things and people in general until he gets used to them.  We believe he lived a sheltered life, never having much interaction with children and people in general.  He warms up fairly quickly and he is so sweet and gentle.  He definitely has the appetite of a hound and is on puppy food as he was too thin upon arrival.  He is a nice quiet dog but definitely follows his nose and will counter surf!!  He has been caught more than once, paws on the dining room table, drinking his foster Mom's coffee.  He is a good boy and requires lots of chew toys as he is an adolescent.  He gives gentle kisses and enjoys laying on the couch or floors against other dogs, again typical of his breed mix.  He isn't too bad on a leash and body harness and his photos really are deceiving.  He is much smaller than he looks in the photos and not at all buff looking.  He has a longer hound snout and probably has a prey drive so no cats for this boy.  He rides well in the car and barks only if there is a reason.  When he met two children, aged 10-12, he really just watched them, he didn't react, which leads us to believe he did not have them in his life previously.  He was timid more than anything.  For this reason, if there are children in the home, we would say 10 years plus as younger, more exuberant children may frighten him at this stage.  Linus loves to be cuddled and hugged.  He will probably reach 50lbs when fully grown.   The ideal home for Linus will be one with another social female dog, his size or larger,  that he may take his cues from for confidence building.  A home that is quieter at this point seems to work for him. Linus is neutered, up to date with vaccines, 4DX tested negative, dewormed, and is microchipped. A fully fenced (wood not chain link) yard, another socialized female dog, and a Veterinarian History of Compliance are mandatory to apply for Linus.
