Junebug

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Junebug.  She is a darling quiet beagle estimated by our vets to be 5 years old.  She is tri-colored and weighs 29lbs.  Her coat is medium length.   She was pulled from an Ontario shelter and was found as a stray. Junebug has been a joy to have in foster care.  She certainly was someone's dog as she knew exactly what being in a home was all about.  She is fully housebroken and paper trained.  She enjoys the companionship of other dogs but doesn't play or want to have them in her face. When we pulled her from the shelters she required more vaccines, to be spayed,4dx tested and she had an inguinal hernia that required repairing. When we had her 4dx testing done, she tested positive for Lyme so is on 28 days of doxycycline. Junebug has the typical great appetite of a beagle. Her food is measured out twice daily and she is currently on Performatrin Small breed adult food as well as a bit of canned food. She loves to sleep on the bed and cuddle all night. Junebug adores being with people and will sleep and sit with anyone. Currently, she is in a child-free foster home but she has met children between the ages of 9 and 11 and was great with them. The shelter had estimated her to be 8 but our vet said she was younger. Her teeth were in too good of shape for a senior nor did she have cataracts. The vet noted she was not producing tears as well as she should be so placed her on Optimune for 5 days and then on as a need-be basis. She rides extremely well in a car and is very good at the vets. She is not used to going for walks currently and likes to explore in the backyard. She is quite the couch potato. Her coat is very soft and she loves attention and affection without being overbearing. The ideal home for Junebug is would be one where the family is either retired or perhaps a family member working from home. Since she is a calm, quiet dog, we believe she would prefer a quiet home so no young children and a less active household. As hounds tend to suffer from separation anxiety, a resident dog would be fine but would only for companionship reasons not as a playmate. Junebug is spayed, up to date with vaccines, heartworm tested negative, and on heartworm/flea tick prevention. A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian History of Compliance are mandatory in order to apply for Junebug.  She will be available to go to a new home anytime after September 11.
