Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Ellie. She is a 19-month-old Jack Russell Terrier/ Dachshund mix we believe. Ellie weighs 21lbs and has a medium-length coat. She was found as a stray and wound up in a high kill shelter. Ellie is one of the most outgoing small dogs we have seen. She loves other dogs, adults, and children. She is a medium energy dog and goes with the flow. She is very sweet and housebroken. She is also paper trained if need be. Ellie gets along with all the sizes and ages of dogs. This gal does not like cats. She came crate trained but sleeps on her foster parent's bed at night. Ellie has the appetite of a Dachshund. She loves her meal times and has measured amounts of small breed adult food given to her twice daily. She is not destructive in the home at all when the family is home but crating is recommended when the family is out. Ellie is excellent in both the bathtub and the vehicle. We just can't believe how quiet and well behaved she is. It is hard to believe she is only estimated to be a year old Ellie was found to be heartworm positive when taken in by the Shelter. She has found to be heartworm free now which is wonderful news. Ellie is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped. The ideal home for Ellie would be one with children and or another dog. A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian History of Compliance is mandatory in order to apply for our Ellie.
