Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Auggie the doggie!. He is a beagle/Rotti mix. His hair coat is short and he was found as a stray. Auggie is a really neat breed mix. He has the muscular body of a Rotti but the disposition and size of a larger beagle. This fellow is nice and quiet and is made of entirely all beagle traits They include having an appetite that never stops, loving and quiet, great with all dogs, loves to be petted and loved on, not a great watchdog. Auggie is one of those dogs that go with the flow. If you want to go out walking, Auggie will as well as long as it is not too cold out. If one wants to just lay around on the couch on their day off, he's your guy. He is very social with the other dogs in the foster home. We don't think that he would follow his nose, as a beagle does if walking off-leash on hikes or at a cottage, once he has bonded with his family. He has the bark of a Rotti. Female dogs take to him very quickly as they recognize a good catch when they see one! He is a gentle soul who has been around children much but enjoys all their cuddles and kisses. Auggie is fed twice daily with food measured out so he doesn't get overweight. His current home is in the country so he isn't going out for walks daily but has a very large fenced in yard to play with the other dogs in. He is a low energy dog. He has not been around cats but has not attempted to pull to go near the outdoor feral cats. We do not believe he has a prey drive. Most beagles love cats. Auggie is crated at night time or when the family is not home. The ideal home for Auggie would be one with a family who is home a fair amount. A second socialized dog would be a wonderful benefit to Auggie. Auggie is neutered, up to date with vaccines, 4dx tested negative, and on flea/tick prevention, Bravecto. A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian History of Compliance is mandatory to apply for Auggie.
