Black Beauty

Big, bold and beautiful is our Black Beauty.  This gal is large and proud, having come to us at 112lbs.  She is two and a half years old and very much a Labrador Retriever.    She has a medium length coat.

Black Beauty was an owner surrender and the shelter advised her owners had unrealistic expectations.   Apparently she would chase vehicles as the property was not fenced.  She is well trained and listens well.  She adores men.  Black Beauty most likely was a rural dog and perhaps given table scraps as her meals.  This would account for her extra poundage.  Currently she is fed twice a day with "Gather Wild fish" and a bit of sweet potato.

She is a wonderful dog, loves car rides, loves to be with the family.  She is good with other dogs.  Due to her size when she gets excited she wiggles her butt so hard she almost knocks you over.  She is a good watchdog, alerting you if someone comes to the door.  She never jumps up on people.  She is incredibly strong so there is no way at this point she could be walked by a child.  She will require a body harness in order to control her.  She does not like cats.

Black Beauty will be a great family dog.  She loves children.   She hates the crate, but that's absolutely fine, as she is great in the house, never chews anything and is perfectly housebroken.   She sleeps on a low couch in her foster home.

We are looking for a family that is willing to work with their Veterinarian on a weight loss program designed especially for her.  She needs to be more active so walks and hikes will do her well.

Black Beauty is spayed, fully vaccinated, including Bordetella, heartworm tested negative dewormed and microchipped.

A fully fenced yard and a Veterinarian history of compliance is mandatory in order to apply for her.
