As always, we found another beautiful black dog in a high kill shelter.    Poor Roddy was found as a stray.  He is 1 year old and weighs 60lbs.  He is a black lab mix and has medium length hair.  He may have a bit of border collie in him.

Roddy is a very good boy.  He loves to play with other dogs.  The resident dogs are teaching him how to play as it is obvious he never had that freedom before.   He is crated at night and when his foster family is away.  He is good with dogs of all sizes and ages.  We don't know how he is with cats but we think he would chase them so a kitty free home is best.

This happy guy lives to eat, which is one of his lab traits.  His food is measured out and given twice daily. He does have a sensitive tummy but does excellent on Royal Canin large Breed food. Chew treats work well with him. Such as antlers, bully sticks etc.

Roddy is not a barker dog.  He does talk when playing with the other dogs.  He will alert you if someone comes to the door.  He rides well in the vehicle.   He is loving and takes treats gently from you hand.  He is great with children.

We have provided Roddy with a lot of vetting. He is neutered, had his back dewclaws removed, had 4 DX testing whereby results were all negative, has had a fecal done which was also negative, had a Giardia test, also negative, all vaccines including Bordetella, on heartworm and flea and tick prevention as well as dewormed.

We are looking for a very active family for him.  Joggers, agility activities, flyball would all be ideal for him.  He's still a pup so needs to have the ability to wear out his energy.

A fully fenced yard, and a Veterinarian history for a current or previous pet is mandatory.
